Mapping the Places I visited

I love to travel. Due to the COVID19, all my travel plans for the rest of this year are cancelled. So I thought it would be fun to put together a simple map of all places I have visited in the past.

This project required a CSV file with:

  • city, longitude, lattitude - coordinates cortesy of Google search
  • my impression about the place (disliked, liked or neutral)
library(ggplot2)
library(maps)
mygeo<-read.csv("./DATAIN/places_i_visited.csv")
world<-map_data("world")
ggplot()+
    borders("world", colour="gray", fill="gray") +
    geom_point(aes(x=mygeo$long,y=mygeo$lat,color=mygeo$feel),size=1) +
    labs(color="Impression")

Result - a rather rudimentary map of the world with the locations visited marked as blue dots. A more interactive map is hopefully coming soon - I just need to set up my Shiny page.
